About

Senior engineers, building the platforms learning teams wish they had.

Tao Learning was founded in 2019 by alumni of Coursera, Stripe, and Khan Academy who got tired of watching ambitious learning roadmaps stall in vendor purgatory.

Mission

Every learner deserves software that respects their time.

We exist to give serious learning teams an engineering partner who treats their platform like a product, not a project. That means senior engineers, design-led delivery, and code we'd be proud to show our future selves.

Vision

A future where learning software fades into the background.

The best LMS is the one your learners don't notice. We build for that future — fast, accessible, intelligent, and quietly excellent.

Values

What we won't compromise on.

Outcomes over output
We measure ourselves by completion rates, not lines of code.
Boring infrastructure
PostgreSQL, not whatever's trending on Hacker News this week.
Pixel respect
Every flow is designed in Figma before a single line of TSX.
Senior by default
No staffing pyramids. The engineer in your kickoff is the engineer in your standup.
Leadership

A team that's been in your shoes.
